Women’s Coaching

If there is a gap between where you are now and where you want to be – then HWAM Coaching is for you.

Jane Midwinter, Women’s Coach

The HWAM Coaching approach explained.

I’m Jane Midwinter, an experienced coach. I trained with Dr. Neil Suggett, CBE, PhD and author of “Living A Coaching Lifestyle” practising in both leadership and education for over 12 years.

I have found coaching to be the most powerful of all leadership and life tools investing in the coaching approach in every aspect of my personal life and through my coaching practice, supporting others to do the same. I work with individuals, professional and corporate groups to address the challenges that menopause brings.

Choosing HWAM Coaching will help you to reflect on your current journey and state of wellbeing and identify any changes that may be needed. The purpose of coaching is to help you to make the changes you want to see.

What women say …

The menopause coaching sessions I had with Jane were tremendously helpful.  I have been struggling with hot flashes, night sweats and other symptoms that I did not even realise were caused by the menopause.  Working with Jane helped me focus on my symptoms and what I could work on to improve how I was feeling.  Jane put together a detailed action plan to help me manage the symptoms and move forward. Thank you Jane, if I had not attended these sessions I would still be struggling but working with you has given me the push to make the needed changes.

Jane has really helped me understand the changes to the body that menopause brings and with her help and guidance I have made changes to my diet and lifestyle to help overcome the weight gain and the joint pain.  Jane is very passionate and knowledgeable  and really listened to my issues and offered practical advice and further reading lists.

Life is full of challenges, but for many women those challenges can often become barriers to achievement, success and happiness. I’m passionate about supporting women to reduce those barriers – however or whenever they present themselves.

A woman’s hormones are fluctuating and changing throughout her life and this can frequently interrupt a plan, throw her off course or create a barrier. Hormonal changes can impact a woman’s life for many reasons, as a young adult, through pregnancy and childbirth, sometimes because of ill-health, and at early, natural or induced menopause:

The average age of natural menopause is 51, with perimenopause often affecting women between the ages of 45 and 55. Early natural menopause affects 10-15% of women and premature menopause – POI – affects around 1% of women between the ages of 12 and 40 (approximately 140,000 women).

The fact is that hormone changes can impact on a woman’s current health and wellbeing as well as on long-term health and wellbeing, both mentally and physically, from heart and bone health, to skin and hair health, to mental health and cognition.

These days women are living longer, with a life expectancy of around 83 years. Women are working more and thankfully achieving more both in their personal and professional lives and it is therefore crucial to put their mental and physical health and wellbeing first in order to stay healthy and enjoy all that life has to offer. After all, life is for living!

Whatever stage you are in on your life journey, HWAM Coaching is here to support you to reduce barriers, help you to achieve your goals and flourish.

Self care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what’s left of you.

The nitty-gritty …

Verbalising your thoughts through a coaching conversation helps you to think more clearly. I listen carefully and objectively, ask questions which help you identify specific problems or symptoms and develop a strategy with you to find sustainable solutions and move forward. I follow your agenda through mindful questioning – a key element of the coaching conversation – pushing you to dig deeper and encouraging your commitment to make the changes you want to see.

You direct the conversation and my questions follow your direction. I gain the facts, explore your motivation, decisions and priorities and invite you to consider what is possible, guiding you all the way.

Together, we explore options which are open to you and finally I help you to make choices about which actions you want to take.

If you require further coaching conversations, I check in with how you are doing and what you’ve achieved, supporting you to achieve your action steps.

To sum it all up …

Coaching is about giving you airtime; providing you with active listening; asking key questions; exploring your situation; generating options and supporting and encouraging you to take action for you now and for your future wellbeing and success.

My role as a Women’s Coach is not to direct you, but to inform you and offer you ideas by making multiple suggestions, then asking you to choose what feels right for you.

At the end of the HWAM Coaching Programme, you will know exactly what actions you want to take. You will be committed to taking these actions which will have been broken down into a unique time-line for you and I will be available for further support and guidance if needed.

Your Personalised Plan will contain only those actions which you have chosen to take and which will support you to achieve your goal, through manageable steps, throughout your journey.

Thank you Jane for all your expert help.   You listened to my personal experiences of the menopause, and were able to advise me of the different options I could take to make my menopause journey smoother.   There was no pressure to take a particular route, which I really appreciated.  The wealth of information you shared with me and recommended was fantastic.  Your time, patience and understanding has enabled me to feel so much more confident and positive at this time in my life.

Chrissie Willets, (Mental Health Nurse 1989 – 2010)

I needed to write to say thank you.  I have been struggling with my symptoms for a long time, some of which l didn’t even realise were symptoms, the worst ones for me being the flushes/night sweats, migraines and especially joint pain.  Some mornings l wake feeling like I’ve gone twelve rounds with Tyson Fury, having to literally peel myself out of bed and crying out in pain.  Today you provided the information l needed to understand the symptoms I’m experiencing in a knowledgeable, sympathetic yet fun filled and light hearted way… You were a true breath of fresh air!  I never thought l would be laughing out loud at what has always been considered such a taboo subject… Thank you for that.  It was so nice to leave feeling almost ‘normal’, I’ll never be that!, but to feel more positive than l have felt since my hysterectomy two years ago was liberating.  Anyway, l just wanted to say thank you so much for your amazing talk today, you’ve truly changed my outlook on life and surviving the menopause!  With heartfelt thanks.

A. Neale, Phase Leader

I had an amazing coaching session with Jane. She supported me in having greater clarity of thought and gave me confidence in moving forward. She asked the right questions to lead me to very solid decisions. Jane’s style and method are very effective, helping me to focus on my goals. I look forward to our next conversation.

Emma, Headteacher

What a fantastic experience.  I met with Jane because I wanted to explore how I was feeling about my job, my future career and how my home life fitted in with both of these things.  At the beginning of the meeting we agreed the aims of the session.  Jane helped me to evaluate and prioritise what is really important to me as I enter the next stage of my professional life. She asked the right questions, and gave me the space and guidance to focus my mind and arrive at my own answers. By the end of our time together I had a clear set of actions to help me to achieve my goals. I would highly recommend Jane to any professional, in any industry who needs clarity on what they really want from their career and needs a push in the right direction to achieve it.
